Room 7 Classroom Information

School Schedule-- subject to change

 Students should arrive between 7:50 and 8:15 A.M. each day. Breakfast is from 7:50-8:25 A.M. and the tardy bell will ring at 8:25 A.M.

Expectations

3.        Be prepared to learn (have all supplies).

4.        Be kind and respectful of others and their belongings. We are a bully free school!

 5.        Be all that you can be!!!!!

 

Report Cards: Report cards will go home every nine weeks. Please sign and return the envelope. 

Grades- We are on a 10 point scale 

Grades May Be Given for the Following:
       Tests        Quizzes     Morning work     Participation        Observations      Projects     Group work          Homework (if teacher specifies)

 Homework

Homework will be given Monday-Thursday.  

This includes but is not limited to: reading 20-30 each night, choice board(s), incomplete classwork. Some weekend homework may be given for projects and/or if classroom work is not completed. Homework is not graded unless the teacher specifies.

Grading Scale

 A (90-100)

 B (80-90)

 C (70-80)

 D (60-70)

   

 Progress Report

 Progress reports will be sent home between the 3rd and 6th week of each quarter.

Conferences

 ***PEP conferences are required every nine weeks.  I will contact you by note, phone, or in person to schedule a time that works for both of us.

 ***All parents are encouraged to schedule a conference. Please contact me immediately with any concerns.

 ***All meetings need to be pre-scheduled and scheduled during a time in which the students are not present.

Supplies

 *** Please see Supply List page. Contact me if there is a concern about the supplies.  I will assist as needed.

 ***Please make sure your child has daily supplies and is prepared to learn each day.

 ***Please provide your child with supplies at home for academic success. 

Lunch 

 Please know that we love to have parents come for lunch with their children.  Also remember if you decide to come for lunch with your child…NO outside food is permitted.  I also request that you sit with your child at the assigned classroom table.  If you prefer to eat alone with your child, you may choose to sit at the back tables or in the picnic area.

 Daily Lunch: 12:15                Early Dismissal: 12:15

 *** All students must have a NEW application submitted and approved during the first 30 days of school.

 ***Meals may be paid for in advance. The cafeteria accepts checks.

 JOBS

 ****The “HELPER OF THE DAY” will be rotated DAILY.  The HELPER has the job of assisting the teacher. He/she will select other students to assist if the job requires more than one student.

 ****The HELPER will also select two cafeteria helpers to clean up after lunch.

 Class Library

 *** Students are permitted to borrow classroom books as needed.   

Media Center (School Library)

 *** Students will have one assigned day to visit the library.

 *** Students will be permitted to check out two books.  One MUST be on the students reading level.  The other book may be a book of choice.

 *** Most students should be reading chapter books by fourth grade.

Computer Lab/TIC

      Students exhibiting poor behavior/choices when using technology will be removed and unable to use any technology devices without a parent/teacher/student conference.

PROJECTS 

***Projects will be assigned each quarter.

*** Students will have a minimum of one week (including weekends) to complete the assignment unless used as a weekly homework assignment.

***Students will be provided a rubric with most projects assigned.

***Parents may contact me with concerns before 8:00 P.M. or through e-mail.

*** All projects will be graded.

*** All projects are expected to be  handed in on time. Points will be deducted for late work.

*** All project assignments will be posted on my webpage. 

*** Most writing assignments will have an example posted on webpage or a copy will be sent home with your child. (see writing assignments page)

 

 Drinks/Snacks *** Students will be permitted to get drinks during bathroom breaks.

*** Note from doctor is required if student is allergic to specific food or drink.

Restroom 

*** Students must go to the restroom upon arrival.

*** Students will be permitted to go as needed...if this does not become a habit!

*** Students will go after lunch or before specials.

*** Parents will be notified if the student abuses restroom time.

*** Parents will be notified if student is interrupting other classrooms while using the restroom.

*** Parents need a doctor’s note if their child has a bathroom situation.

Graded Work---- ASSESSMENT FOLDERS

*** Graded work will go home at the  teacher's discretion.  (Usually bi-weekly).  Please return all the work. I will also require a parent and student signature on the Goal Chart and Assessment sheet which will be sent in this folder.

Again---PLEASE return ALL work.  Feel free to take pictures of test to help your child.
