About Mrs. Heim

My name is Jenny Heim. I have been teaching for 17 years already! I feel this is my call and destiny to teach your child and build a community of learning for all of us! I began my career teaching 2nd grade at Meadow Lane. As soon as Multiage had an opening, I begged for the job! Multiage was where I did my clinical teaching in 1999 and I truly LOVE the concept of teaching children for two years! I have a bachelor's' degree from East Carolina University graduating Summa Cum Laude, thankful to my faithful family support and blessings from God. I also worked very hard for two years to become Nationally Board Certified. I was surprised by being recognized as a MODEL educator for Wayne County Public Schools five years ago. In 2007 I was humbly named Meadow Lane's teacher of the year. My next goal is to work on my Master's Degree in Education Reading Specialist to better empower me to teach the most crucial life skill...reading! I am always looking for ways to become a better teacher by working at a school full of highly qualified teachers with great ideas to borrow! A good teacher is always willing to learn from others.
I am married to my childhood sweetheart from a tiny town in central New York. He graduated NC State University as an Electrical Engineer in 2011 and is currently employed as a project manager on Seymour Johnson AFB. Over the past 31 years of marriage we have raised two children. Both our children graduated from the University of Chapel Hill, one as a biology major and the other as an English major. My daughter graduated Brody School of Medicine in 2014 but due to health has changed to a Masters in Public Health. She currently teaches and tutors at Wayne Community College. Brian currently teaches at a charter school near the beach. I cannot believe how quickly my children have grown! It really makes me want to encourage all my parents to cherish these precious years...they FLY by!
