Dear Parents,

         Part of the keys to a successful year is to understand my expectations for behavior in the classroom prior to the first day of school. After you read this, please discuss the policy with your child. My desire is to emphasize to the children we are all expecting outstanding conduct from the first day and all are working together for their success. I believe in always being very positive in my approach to discipline. I feel emphasizing appropriate behavior redirects inappropriate behavior most of the time. I do ask children come to me with concerns that I may not see. I cannot fix what I do not know is bothering your child. There are times when students need a visual warning as to the consequences of their choice. Our school will be using Class Dojo in all classes. This program supports the school-wide rewards, will be shared during parent/teacher conferences and will be used to send schoolwide and classroom messages as well. All messages sent to me are private and not able to be seen by other parents in my class.  Parents are asked to sign up for Class Dojo information following the directions in the packet. This is an app or able to be used on a desktop that will be vital this year. I will adhere to the PBIS guideline of 90% or better conduct to be included in the school-wide rewards. Students with a conduct of 95% or higher average for the year will be recognized at the classroom end-of-the year award ceremony for exceptional conduct. Intentional aggressive behavior is not tolerated. This will not be handled by Class Dojo alone, but with the administration. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I will explain this program in more detail at our parent orientation meeting on September 7th.
