TEACHER RESOURCES

If you use the Spot and Dot method for decoding unknown words in your classroom, here are some great bookmarks that I created, with the help of logo.  (Will need Microsoft Publisher to open this document.)

Spot and Dot bookmarks in jpeg format:
  • Write phrases on popsicle sticks and see how many phrases a student can read correctly in a minute.  The more they practice, the more phrases they will read!

Fabulous Websites

  •  KBum Reading, by Kathy Bumgardner,  is a fantastic website which has wonderful reading and writing resources!  There are PowerPoint presentations and pictures so you can see how to use some of the strategies.
  • Catawba County Schools has an awesome website where you can find a variety of resources for reading, writing, and much more!
  • Storyline Online is another great website where students can hear and see their favorite books being read aloud by actors and actresses!
  • Florida Center for Reading Research is one of my favorite websites.  They have compiled Literacy Work Station activities for grades K-1, 2-3, and 4-5.  They are ready to print, laminate, and use!
  • Gallon Land Story is a wonderful story that will help students learn about capacity.  Check out the link above for other great resources as well.
