What does our day look like?

What does our day look like?

Arrival/Sign In/Morning Routine

We sign-in the classroom and make our lunch choice

Center Activities
We choose from 13 different areas in our classroom to engage in activities and start our day.
Morning Stretches/Exercises

Morning Meeting
We sing songs, say good morning, talk about what we are going to do that day, talk about what new activities we will have, see who is missing from our school family, welcome back those that have been gone, count and make patterns just to name a few things.

Center Activities

We have uninterrupted time in our learning centers to play.  While we are playing we are learning things that prepare us for Kindergarten; in addition to math, science, reading readiness and art, we learn things like how to take turns, get along with our friends, resolve conflicts and work together.   It's so much fun when you are four/five and you get to do everything hands on and be interactive with learning!

Clean up/Transition
Story Time
Our teachers read stories to us now. We learn about rhyming, how print works, authors, illustrators, letters, sounds, new vocabulary words and lots of reading readiness during this time.
Prepare to go outside
Outside/Gross Motor

We play outside in our backyard.  We have activities that we can do to use our large muscles, and get exercise. We also have areas where we can relax, look at books, play with blocks, build sand castles and cook at our kitchen.

12:10 -12:40

We eat lunch in our classroom.

Quiet/Rest Time

We rest on our mats.  We don't have to sleep, after we rest for a few minutes,  we get books or quiet activities to do on our own mats.

Center Activities

We have another opportunity to work in centers and participate in small group activities.

Clean Up/Daily Reflection/Departure

We wrap up the day, talk about what we did, and what is coming up tomorrow
