This section of our web page is designed to help those of you
who are new to Meadow Lane Elementary or maybe even Wayne County
Schools in general. If you are trying to determine in which school
district you live, our district web page
may be able to offer you some general guidance in this area.
let me tell you a little about Meadow Lane Elementary. We are a
pre-kindergarten through fourth grade school. Our facility was built in
1958 so we have recently celebrated our fiftieth anniversary.
our students graduate from fourth grade they go to Greenwood Middle
school which is located just across the street from us. Then when our
kids reach high school age they generally go to Eastern Wayne High
School or Spring Creek High School.
Many of our
students are children of parents who are associated with Seymour
Johnson Air Force base and therefore we are accustomed to students
joining our facility, and unfortunately leaving, throughout the school
year. We strive to make these transitions as smooth as possible for our
students and their parents. In an effort to help with this
transition we are creating this page to help you get the most direct
access to information most commonly needed during these times. More in
depth information which you may need later may be found elsewhere on
this website. If there is information you feel would be helpful with
this transition that we have not included here, please feel free to share
this with us. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our website and communications with you.
of the first things you may need is a school calendar. While this is
the basic layout for our school year, you will find a more detailed
calendar which is updated continuously and has special events that are
specific to our school here on our website. Just click on the calendar
tab at the top of the page to access this. Our home page also lists
the most immediate events on the bottom left hand corner.
To register your child to attend Meadow Lane you will need a few things. Follow this link to the list of registration requirements.
The registration process generally takes about 30 to 45 minutes so
please allow ample time in your schedule to complete this when you
come. Ms. Monica Applewhite will need to assist you with this process
and she is available most frequently during the hours of 8:00 - 3:00.
If it is possible, please call (919) 751-7150 and make an appointment.
While our dress code is spelled out in greater detail in the Parent/Student Handbook, please pay special attention to the following:
We respectfully ask that parents also observe the dress code while visiting on campus. Our students are very impressionable.
your child is enrolled you may drop him/her off between 8:00 and 8:15
am and pick them up between 3:30 and 3:50. On early release days
children will be dismissed at 1:30. Any child arriving after 8:25 will
be considered tardy. Three tardies constitute an absence. For your
child's safety, changes in transportation arrangements will not be
accepted by phone. Parents MUST provide a signed note to the teacher,
or by fax (919-751-7108) no later than 2:00 PM. We do ask that anytime
you are driving on campus, please do so at a safe SLOW speed and refrain
from using cell phones. Cell phones distract even the best drivers and
our students lives may very well depend on your following this
request. More specific safety guidelines are located in the
Should you decide to have
your child ride the bus, school bus assignments are made by our
elementary curriculum specialist and approved by our county
transportation office. This generally takes an average of two days.
Please do not just send your child to a local bus stop. The bus
driver will not pick up children not on his/her bus roster.
