Watch Your Child’s Reading Performance Soar with Ticket to Read!
We are excited to inform you of your child’s participation in Ticket to Read®,
an interactive online reading program designed to strengthen your
child’s performance in phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary development,
and comprehension skills. Students navigate through a self-paced
instructional path, and motivational features such as ticket rewards are
issued as students complete certain tasks. Tickets or tokens can be
redeemed to purchase items like toys or items used decorate their
clubhouse, or to play games that allow them to practice vocabulary
skills. Students receive constant feedback from the program about their
performance, and progress reports are available to teachers to share

can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection at
school, at home, at the library, or in any after-school setting.
Students are issued a User ID and Password from their teacher.
Ticket to Read: Phonics Component
consists of 14 instructional paths that target specific phonics skills.
The types of activities that students will complete depend on the
student’s skill level. Students can earn Tocket Tokens to redeem in the
Toy Shop. It is recommended for students complete three sessions per
week at 15-20 minutes per session.
Ticket to Read: Reading Component
consists of 16 levels of reading difficulty spanning levels 1.5 to 7.0
readability. Passage length and words per minute goals gradually
increase with each level. It is recommended that students complete
three sessions per week at 20-30 minutes per session. A clubhouse
status board posts the student’s current level, book, and passage, as
well as tickets earned and time spent in the program.

practice for improving reading fluency and comprehension. Ticket to Read offers this opportunity to your child. You may wish to create incentives for your child to participate in Ticket to Read at
home. Setting goals for reading a certain number of passages, earning
tickets over a specified time period, increasing words per minute or
passing quizzes with 90% or better are suggestions to consider.

reading development, but you will have a chance to watch his or her
reading skills soar.
Lane will highlight star Ticket-to-Read performers weekly by having
their names announced over the school’s intercom, having their picture
taken and posted on the Ticket-to-Read Stars Bulletin in the main
building, and earning a certificate. Students will also be entered in a
drawing to win a free book and small prize at the end of each month.
are two opportunities to be on the weekly stars’ list. Students who
read at least 2 passages per week on the reading component will have a
chance at earning one of the top 10 spots on the bulletin. Also,
students can earn a spot on the bulletin by collecting the most tokens
or tickets in their grade level. In addition, students’ names will be
entered in a monthly drawing to win a free book and a small prize!

is important to building reading heroes, so please encourage your child
to participate in Ticket to Read at home in addition to their nightly
