Individual counseling sessions with students are provided upon request of teachers, parents, or the student to help with educational, personal, or social concerns. Sessions are confidential and are scheduled at a time that is least disruptive to the student's schedule.
Some students may be invited to participate in group counseling with students who have similar concerns or needs. This enables them to support one another and to learn skills to help deal with a specific problem. Counseling groups consist of 3-7 children and meet approximately 30-45 minutes for 4-6 sessions. Topics appropriate for group counseling may include study skills, divorce, self-esteem, friendship, grief, deployment, and self-control.
